Where is the Very Best Place to Advertise?

That is the number one question on the minds of many business owners these days. "Where is the very best place to advertise to get the most bang for every dollar spent?" Many believe that either Classified Ads, Fliers or Post Cards is the answer, but I'm here to tell you that for people who have been in business for a year or so the very best place to advertise is to your current clients. Let me say that again.... The Very Best Place To Advertise is to Your Current Clients!

You probably don't believe this or understand why this is so, so this article is to prove it to you.

Whether you are primarily an online or an offline business, your current clients is the best place to advertise to... as that's where the gold is. Think about it!!! No new prospect knows you better than they do... There's nothing you can tell a new prospect more convincingly than they can... So why not harness the power of the relationship you have with your current clients to help build your business in every possible way.

Here are a few popular ones:
- You can ask your current clients to refer others to you. Did you know that the easiest way to do that is to sell Gift certificates?
- You can ask your current clients to give testimonials that you can include in your promotional materials and your web presence.

But here are some over looked ones:
- You should be doing everything in your power to get clients to refer at least one client to you each and every month. In 12 months at best, that's 12 new clients generated by 1 client.... at worst that could be anywhere from 2 - 6 new clients.
- An easy way to get them to give you testimonials is to ask them to fill out a survey. And every month you should have something to survey them about.

Now the real best place to advertise shows it true colors when you accomplish the following:
- Get your current clients to buy more! Sounds simple but if a client usually spends $100 on average with you each time they visit, your primary job is to get them to spend at least 10% more or $110 each time they visit instead.
- Get your current clients to visit more often too! Let's say they usually visit once a month. Your job is to get them to visit once every 2 - 3 weeks instead.

Well it all sounds so very simple, matter-of-fact like and doable that most businesses never bother do all this... because they don't see the value in it. That's because they didn't take the time to run the numbers.

Well just like a simple penny compounded over a month's time astounds people (do it on your calculator and see), all the concepts I mentioned above when grouped together does a similar thing... Now let's compile all that together and run the numbers.

If you have 100 clients and lets say you put some real effort into it and got about 25 to refer at least 4 stable clients each (well you know some referrals will only buy once or so on, so we really don't count or factor those in too much), so lets say you now have 200 clients, 100 new ones that you hardly had to spend any money to acquire.

Next lets say you put all 200 clients through the upgrade (for lack of a better word) process mentioned above. So now you have 200 clients each spending $110 each time they visit instead of $100. You then have each of these clients visiting every 2 - 3 weeks instead of 4 - 5 weeks.

So that's 200 clients x $110 = $22,000 x 17 - 20 times each year = $374,000 - $440,000 each year. With pretty much no advertising or major costs involved. Compare that to your current 100 clients spending $100 every month for a year. That's 100 x $100 = $10,000 x 12 times a year = $120,000.

Now which one of those scenarios would you prefer to have?

(We didn't factor in you spending some of that $120,000 on traditional advertising to maybe get 10 or 20 new clients because it sort of evens itself out as we didn't factor in attrition either!)
